Call for SWE Region G Awards

The Society of Women Engineers strives to advance and honor the contributions of women at all stages of their career as well as recognize the successes of SWE members and individuals who enhance the engineering profession through contributions to industry, education and the community.

It is my pleasure to announce that the first annual awards and recognition program for SWE Region G will be launched at this year's Regional Conference in Lexington, Kentucky on March 5 -7, 2010. All members of the Region G area are eligible to apply for the individual and section awards.

Individual Awards

Overview

Advancing Leader Award - Collegiate and/or Professional

Recognizes leaders who are actively engaged in engineering or technology, has demonstrated outstanding technical excellence, and has consistently engaged with SWE.

Gem Award - Professional

Celebrates professionals who have advanced and achieved successes in engineering technical career, have demonstrated outstanding technical excellence, and have consistently supported women in STEM over their lifetime.

Membership Anniversary

Recognizes members who have achieved milestone anniversaries as a SWE member. No application required.

Section Awards

Overview

Aspiring Program Award - Professional Section

Recognizes the section with the best program for career guidance/outreach or professional development in 2009.

Aspiring Program Award - Collegiate Section

Recognizes the section with the best program for career guidance/outreach or professional development in 2009.

Achieving Collegiate Section Award

Celebrates the Collegiate section that is most able to meet SWE's strategic priorities based on self-evaluation, reports, and documented activities.

Membership Award

Recognizes the collegiate and professional section with the best membership growth. No application required.

Section Charter Anniversary

Recognizes sections that have achieved milestone anniversaries. No application required.

 

Applications must be received by January 31, 2010

Details of submission requirements can be found in SWE Communities Region G Goings. http://communities.swe.org/COP/RegionGGoings. Applications should be sent to the Region G Awards Committee Chair, Virginia Brandt at Virginia.Brandt@SWE.org.

The Region G Awards Committee is still looking for volunteers to serve on the committee. The primary responsibilities of the committee members are to review the applications and select the award recipients in February and provide recommendations for improvement for future years following the Region G Conference in March. If interested, please contact Virginia or me.
