Welcome to Region E!

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE), founded in 1950, is a nonprofit educational and service organization that helps women achieve their full potential as engineers and leaders.

SWE's Region E covers the mid-Atlantic area, including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. Our region encompasses twelve professional sections and fifty-nine collegiate sections. Region E is also home to three of the first four chartered sections: Philadelphia, New York, and Baltimore-Washington as well as the first chartered collegiate section, Drexel University.

 SWE Mission

Stimulate women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and demonstrate the value of diversity.

• Assist women in readying themselves for a return to active work after temporary retirement.
