What is the role of the Board of Trustees?

- 6 SWE members elected by SWE membership (3 yr staggered terms)
- Fiduciary responsibility for fiscal management of SWE's Trust Funds
- Do not have a role in the management of SWE
- Reports to the Membership on the state of the Funds.
What is the role of the Board of Directors?
Board of Directors
- Conducts Business of the Society
- Focused on Strategic Issues
- Serves as external face of the Society
- Meets with corporate partners who want to donate money
- Executes the strategic plan developed by the Council
What is the role of the Council of Representatives?
Council of Representatives
- Chief legislative & policy determining body of the Society
- Voting members
- Representatives from each professional section (1 to 4 reps depending on size), the Member at Large, and 1 representative from each student region
What is the role of Regional Leadership?
Regional Leadership
- Director of Regions - Acts as the board liaison for the Region Governors
- Region Governor - Coordinates communications within the Region, promotes & facilitates section vitality, and identifies needs within the Region
- Region Council - Transacts the business of the Region
What types of Sections are there?
Types of Sections
- Member - Each member is assigned to a Member Section based on geographic location. Member Sections have their own leadership.
- Member at Large - Members who do not live within the zip code boundaries of a member section can form their own leadership similar to the Member section.
- Collegiate - Affiliation is assigned to a student based on the college or university attended. These sections are governed by officers.
What is the role of the Executive Council?
Executive Council (EC)
- Transacts business of Section
- Positions - Officers are President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Section Representative, and Voting Members of EC.
- Chairs of Committees - Voting members of EC.
- Standing Committees: Membership, Nominating, Fundraising, Website, Programs, Scholarship, and Community Outreach.
