Karen is checking with HQ to see if that is acceptable. Election E-blast is expected to be distributed on the Senate election. Karen is checking on the status of the e-blast. Diana Joch received questions that has been addressed based on the information presented to the nominating committees Term for Collegiate Senators Collegiate and Special Senators have a one year term. Special Senators are not mandatory each year but if the Society needs particular advice on then there would be Special Senators. By Laws Amendments will be posted on the COR community for all members to view Collegiate Members are elected and voted on by all collegiate members 2 International Senator serves 2 yr term. Elected by international members. Majority of votes will receive 2 yr term, 2nd Special Senators are elected by and voted by; Special senator not expected this first election If more than 1 candidate from 1 section submits name each Region will determine how to handle with their own procedures. Varying opinions between MFIG members FY2010 election candidates need to be different candidates from different sections or MALs. Region will need to make a decision is there is more than 1 candidate from the section. For FY2011 election all …. February 1st is the deadline for determining how the Region will handle Collegiate Senators being managed by the transition team. It is expected the FY2010 elections will be managed by the transition team. The FY2012 election will need to be managed by the Regions. If there is someone who agreed to be a candidate for the Senate but due to circumstances that they could serve only a single year – how to handle? If the individual knows that oinging in then they should run for the alternate Senator position since it is a single term. If someone believes that going in that they can fulfil full term but something happens and they cannot fulfill the term then it would be handling like a Region officer position and that position would be elected by the Region. Governance FIG posted – in call for nominations for collegiate senate members terms were not given and a few other details were left out. If a professional member similar call was included the Governors suspected that there would be questions. Governors wanted the correct and enough detail to be issued. As long as national process used, All bios/nominations by 2/20. Can have additional nominees as long as it is completed by 3/1. If Region does on there own then results have to be into Headquarters by 5/15 Professionals are interested and have potential candidates. Transition team is handling collegiate senators and there is a smaller list of candidates that would be available. Karen does not have any information if anyone is interested or has expressed an interest. Professional Senate Timeline 2/1 – deadline for interest candidates 2/1 – 2/20: 3/1 – candidates with photo and bios need to be submitted to HQ 4/1 – elections 5/15 – Regions who do not use national election process must submit new elected senate candidates to HQ Collegiate Senate Timeline 2/1 – deadline for interested candidates 2/13 – publishing and announcing to the region 3/1 – 4/30: ballots distributed to collegiate and voting electronically 5/15 – reported to speaker of Senate Nominating Committee Nominating committee should not have more than one individual from any section or MAL. Nominating Committee has four members and two (Ramona Walsh and Nancy Hunley) are both from the Atlanta Section. Region needs to determine how to handle this issue. Next Region Governors meeting is scheduled for 1/12/09.
