1. Engineering Your Scrapbook – Thursday, September 17, 2009 Come and learn how Creative Memories has engineered some incredible tools and organization systems for scrapbooking. You will learn how to care for your photos and mementos as well as present them in several ways to share them with your friends and families. September Relax, Unwind, and Network (RUN) Dinner Who: Everyone! This is meant as a nice social dinner. Feel free to invite spouses, friends, neighbors -- anyone you think would like to come! What: Third Monthly RUN Dinner, and a fun evening out! Why: To try a new restaurant, or simply eat good food while hanging out with cool people! 10% will be donated back to SWE. Silent Auction Planning Volunteer Opportunities Our University of Arizona scholarship fundraising event will be Saturday November 14th at 2:30pm at Tohono Chul Park. This event is one of the highlights for FY10. Meet for tea and fun as you take care of some early Christmas shopping while raising scholarship money for UA SWE students. Volunteer to help with the event planning and preparations, contact swe.tucson@gmail.com. 4. Define Your Own Success Contest - due September 24th A contest from SWE Nationals for paid members of SWE only How Do You Define Your Own Success? Tell Us and Win! Tell us how you define your own success. And in true SWE fashion, tell us on your own terms. By doing so, you'll help kick off our yearlong SWE60 Anniversary Celebration commemorating 60 years of inspiring perspectives and achieving success on your own terms. You'll also have a chance to win a Visa gift card! And what better place to share your story than in the WE09 Lava Lounge? New Faces in Engineering Nomination- due October 15th The New Faces of Engineering strives to promote the accomplishments of young engineers by highlighting their engineering contributions and the resulting impact on society. Young engineers two to five years out of school are the focus of this recognition program. Engineers Week sponsoring societies nominate young working engineers from among their membership. SWE is seeking qualified candidates for recognition in the New Faces of Engineering program. SWE is encouraging each Section and MAL Region, as well as CPC members, to nominate at least one candidate for this recognition. The deadline for nominations is Thursday, October 15, 2009. Due to an expected overwhelming response, please adhere strictly to the submission criteria. All New Faces nominations must be submitted using our electronic Nomination Form which can be found here.
