Description: Decisions that are
made by federal, state and local governments directly impact the engineering
profession. During this workshop we
will discuss the role engineering associations play in government affairs.
How can individual engineers identify the critical issues and have a voice
that will influence the outcome? Why
is it important that engineers take an active role in government affairs? How
can engineers work within associations to make a difference for their profession?
We will address the role of lobbyists and public relations. We will describe how trade associations
work together as a coalition to move an agenda forward. About the
Speaker: Maura A. Greene is
a partner at Keegan Werlin LLP. Ms.
Greene is a trial attorney with twenty-two years of experience who is general
counsel to architecture, engineering, construction and technology firms. She concentrates her practice in business
litigation and counseling businesses and individuals on employment-related
matters. She is a frequent lecturer on topics including preventing claims,
allocation of risk in contract provisions and employment-related topics. She has presented at forums sponsored by
