The Merit Scholars program is sponsored by the NYSCD SWE chapter and recognizes area juniors and seniors who have excelled in the areas of math and science. This annual event, attended by students, families and area professionals, has taken place at the Edison Club in Rexford and features a sit-down dinner and inspirational speaker. |
Various local activities took place in support of Engineers’ Week. Chapter members participated in "Introduced A Girl To Engineering" at Girls Inc. of the Greater Capital Region at their Schenectady and Albany locations. |
NYS Capital District SWE members have supported and participated in programs with Union College, RPI, The Sage Colleges and other outreach activities. Many activities focus on introducing high school girls to engineering and college students to career opportunities.
Members also participate in High School Outreach events – returning to their high schools to discuss careers in engineering. |
Visits to area laboratories, local manufacturing plants and local businesses are planned to help members fully utilize nearby business resources and learn new skills. Speaker events are also integrated into regular membership meetings. We’re always looking for volunteers to help with this area. |
