 1.            Question for a SWE members Research paper:

2.            2008 Region Conference

Registration is now open

The 2008 SWE Sonora Region Conference is only three months away.... and it is time to register. The 2008 Conference will be held from January 25-27, 2008, at the Pasadena Convention Center and Sheraton Pasadena. Below is information on the Call for Speakers, Hotel Reservations, Registration Packets, and Corporate Packets.

  1. Call for Speakers- Please go to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=MMO_2fSbTuYhZcAuixOChLFQ_3d_3d to register to speak.
  2. Hotel rooms are now available to reserve; $119 (single, double), $134 (triple), $139 (quad).
  3. Attendee Registration- Please see attached file for information on registration and the Web site to register online. www.swe.org/regionb/conference/
     
  4. Corporate packets are available and can be requested by sending an email to 2008.region.conference.pasadena@gmail.com

3.            National Conference Pictures

The professional photographs from the 2007 SWE National Conference maybe viewed and ordered on line.

Directions are as follows:

1. Go to the website:  www.thephotogroup.com

2. Select "online proofing"

3. Enter the event password in the box. The password is smileswe07

4. You will get to a page with a list of categories that correspond to events at the conference.

5. Click on a category and you'll go to a page of thumbnail images. Click on a thumbnail to get to a larger image and ordering information 

 

Please remember to forward your pictures to the Newsletter Editor and the Region Governor so that we can share them with the other region members.

 

4.            Region B RCR Elections (2 Positions for FY09)

This is a reminder that COR adopted the bylaws motion for Article V, Section 1 B4 that states,  One collegiate representative for each 1,000 collegiate members or fraction thereof, not to exceed two, of each region, selected in accordance with the procedures of the region.

 This means that Region B will vote on 2 Region Collegiate Representatives for FY09. A call for nominations will be going out soon for a January election. Please encourage your colligate members to apply. Contact your Region Governor Deb Willems (deb.willems@swe.org) or FY08 RCR Bijal Mehta (bijal.ucla@gmail.com) for more information or if you have any candidates you would like to recommend for the job. 

 5.            COR Reminders

Please complete the FY08 COR Meeting Evaluation Survey by Nov. 15

Please Submit Nominations for FY08 COR Deputy Speaker by Nov. 22

Nominations should be submitted to Suzanne Woll, Nominating Committee Chair, using the Call for Deputy Speaker Nominations form and any candidates must also submit the Deputy Speaker Consent form. Both forms must be submitted by Nov. 22. The Nominating Committee will review all applicants for eligibility and produce a slate/ballot by Dec. 2, 2007. All elected COR will be eligible to vote electronically until Dec. 16. Election results will be distributed by Dec. 21.

6.            FY10 Region Conference

The region council is seeking bids for the 2010 Region Conference (2009 will be hosted in New Mexico by the local professional and colligate sections).

To date we have received no letters of Intent to Bid. If you are interested or have recommendations  on where the region should host the 2010 Conference, please contact Region Lt. Governor Jennifer Harris (Jennifer.harris@swe.org) or Governor Deb Willems (deb.willems@swe.org).


Please note the following deadlines:

The 2010 Intent to Bid Packet- due December 15, 2007

The 2010 Intent to Bid Presentation to be given at the Region Council Meeting in Pasadena on January 27, 2008 for a vote by the council.
