FUNNY PUTTY

OBJECTIVES:

  • Students are introduced to the properties of solids, liquids and gases.
  • Students will learn that colloids are mixtures which display the properties of more than one of these states.
  • Students will make putty (a colloid) and experiment with its properties.
  • Optionally, students can use different glues and test how the properties of the putty changes.

    This activity was developed by the Oklahoma State University Student SWE Section which conducts a state-wide workshop annually for up to 1200 Girl Scouts. This lesson has been adapted for the SWE Internet Activities Center through a Microsoft Equal Access Program grant.
