The 2012 Girls Exploring Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (GESTEM) event is fast approaching! The Society of Women Engineers Rocky Mountain Section appreciates the time and energy you have put forth in years past and we'd like to ask again for your support to make this event a success.

This year's event will be held on April 20, 2012 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.

A few changes from last year:

  • More Girls - 1,000 girls will be participating!
  • More Workshops - each girl will attend 3 workshops and there will be more options
  • Opening Speaker - our keynote speaker will kickoff the day with a motivating talk
  • No STEMAPOOLZA - GESTEM will be focused on our girls
  • Lunch at same location - no worries about walking to another location for lunch.
  • Chaperons may participate in separate presentations or roundtable discussions during the workshops.
  • More Schools - limited to 45 girls per school or organization to allow more schools to participate

    We are seeking VOLUNTEERS!

A majority of volunteers will be assigned, with a partner, to chaperone a group of 10 girls to their workshops and facilitate discussion throughout the day. Other help is also needed, such as set-up, take down, and running errands throughout the day.

If you are available to volunteer on April 20th, please email swe.gestem@gmail.com with the subject line Volunteer RSVP, and include your name, company/organization, email, and phone number. If you are not available for the full day to chaperone a group, please make a note in the email. Additional details, including volunteer training and the event schedule will be sent presently. And of course, please forward this on to any interested colleagues and friends!

For additional information or questions, feel free to email me at swe.gestem@gmail.com, simply put Volunteer Coordinator in the subject line.

If you do not wish to receive further emails about the event, please email swe.gestem@gmail.com with unsubscribe in the subject line.

Thank you again for supporting the GESTEM event. I look forward to seeing you in April!
