Multi-Cultural Events
SWE Detroit offers opportunities to grow with multi-cultural events.
With our COMPES (Coalition of Minority Professional Engineering
Societies) connections in Detroit, we hold joint functions with Detroit
’s NSBE and SHPE chapters. These events include our annual holiday
party, as well as a general meeting discussing diversity issues.
PD Book Club
This group meets monthly at the Borders book store in Ann Arbor to
discuss a pre-selected book (alternating each month between fiction and
non-fiction). Check out their latest information at www.swe.org/SWE/RegionH/Detroit/CDBooks
Professional Development Conference and Sponsors
In the first quarter of every year, SWE Detroit will offer a one-day
conference to support career guidance, networking and leadership
building. This is a great opportunity to expand your horizons, network
and meet many other great SWE-Detroiters! Keep an eye on the calendar

MEMBER MENTOR PROGRAM
We
all have something to learn from fellow women engineers. We all have
something we can offer them too. If you are willing to share
experiences, insight and knowledge, if you can be open and honest, or
if you want to gain personal satisfaction by developing fellow
colleagues, you are a good candidate for developing a mentoring
relationship.
A peer mentoring relationship is
a partnership in which two people share work and life experiences to
support and help one another. The goals of the paired employees may
range from work to work life balance to SWE. This peer-mentoring
program is designed to provide a forum to discuss topics important to
each member of the pair, be heard, to increase knowledge through
sharing and develop solutions when the situation merits. Peer mentoring
is about sharing experiences and developing relationships within the
SWE community. Each peer mentoring pair will develop its own goals
based on both mentors wants and needs.
