Dear SWE Members;
I am honored to serve as Southeast Florida Society of Women
Engineers Section President for the fiscal year of 2009. I’ve
had the pleasure of working with our past President Eileen Velez-Vega
and I’m happy that she is continuing to serve our section
as Treasurer and our Region D Governor.
We have had two successful years after the reactivation of
the Southeast Florida SWE Section. Our section has a successful
turn out with our local Girl Scouts chapters. We are in the works
for making our Broward event an Annual Event.
Our growing section was able to experience the Region D Conference
in 2008, which was hosted by the University of Miami Collegiate
Section.
I’m confident in our executive board of officers and
our elected committee chairs that SWE will continue to fulfill participation
and organization of events and activities for this year to come.
Our goals for this year are to continue and improve our outreach
with Girl Scouts and community colleges, to increase membership,
increase funding, and develop a scholarship fund for high school
students and our collegiate members pursing engineering.
I look forward to meeting and working with each of you this
year.
