Leadership Coach for Region B Needed
This Task Force was to provide proactive intervention to at-risk sections. This Task Force helped to stop the decline in membership and decreased program participation of our ailing and failing sections. With the initial emphasis on at-risk sections, trained members provided intervention. The task force then evolved to develop additional training modules that support leadership development and management skills at the section level. Training modules were developed on topics that are essential to maintaining a vital section, such as recruiting members, section finances, fund development, strategic planning, communications, and holding effective meetings. Task force members are trained on these modules then take this training out to the section and conduct training at Region Conferences. If you are interested in becoming a Leadership Coach for Region B, please contact Joy Bell at joyabell_az@yahoo.com.

Region Outreach Program- A SWEeter Future
We are finished FY09 with 4319 students impacted through the SWEeter Future Program for Region B! Throughout FY09, the Sonora Region is tracking the impact we have on the future of engineering. Our goal for the Region is to impact 2000 children in grades K through 12. The Region Council has approved the a very generous outreach stipend for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place sections. The first place section will receive $1500, second place will receive $1000, and third place will receive $500. The Section Winners will be announced at ABJ!! Thanks for helping impact the future of engineering.

We have set up a SWEeter Future Program Tracker, which can be found by visiting the following link:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=i4M41sM6rK_2fLhHZH4IUU3Q_3d_3d
We ask that you visit this survey throughout the year to report all of the outreach activities of your section. This simple survey simply asks for the name/date of your event, how many professional members attended, and how many K-12 attendees participated. We've also included a "comments" box in case you'd like to include any lessons learned, best practices to share, etc. All of the Program data will be collected by Lt. Governor, Kerrie Greenfelder, and a summary will be provided at the end of the fiscal year.

The program will continue in FY10 and the scholarships will be: first place section will receive $1500, second place will receive $1000, and third place will receive $500. The goal for FY10 is 10,000 student reached.

Usage of SWE Logo
It has been observed that the sections are misusing the SWE logo. Please remember that the SWE logo can't be changed (different colors, shading the gear, etc.) and the logo can't be covered by something. (For example, Goldie the Gopher from the University of Minnesota cannot be holding the SWE logo like it is his.) If you have any questions about modifications made to a logo, please contact HQ.
