Election results:We counted the ballots that were submitted electronically and combined
results with paper ballots that were mailed to Chiao-ih.

- Program Chair: , Outreach: Marilyn Marshall
- Remaining Positions: No formal nominations were received from members for Section Rep, Alt Section Rep, Area Student Coordinator or Student Section Counselor.
Current officers will cover these duties on an ad-hoc basis.
- Webmaster duties (non-elected position) will continue to be covered by Nadine
Whitfield
We polled attendees at the event about what kinds of activities they would like to see us offer this year. There was an overwhelming preference for technical tours, so we brainstormed some possible ideas. Proposed ideas are listed below:
- Olympic Park (near Park City)
- Capital Building Retrofit
- ATK Rocket Firings
- Red Butte Gardens
- Utah Natural History Museum
- Ski Resort Tech tour (snowmaking equipment and ski lifts)
At our next meeting, we will continue polling members and come up with a final list.
Officers reviewed a copy of the section's current website. The following suggestions/ changes were suggested:
- get active links for collegiate section websites (on students page)
- add more color to liven up site's appearance
- add links to other professional groups (such as UEC)
- update officer's page to reflect election results
ABJ:
- Our section report was due on Sep 8 2009. Leslie Hugo took care of this.
- Next section report will be due by Feb 8 2010
- May 27 2010 will be the 60th anniversary of SWE. Local sections are
encouraged to plan events that coincide with this date
- Region B is preparing a presentation for the National Conference and is
asking local sections to submit historical achievements from their archives. Deadline was Sep 15 2009.
- Outreach events held at local or regional level can be advertised on the
National SWE website at this address: www.swe.org/aspire. Another site that can
be used for publicity is here >> volunteermatch.org. Region B also sponsors an
outreach program called "SWEter Futures".
- Next SWE National Conference will be
Oct 2009 in Long Beach, CA.
- Next Region B Conference will be Feb 2010 in
Phoenix, AZ
- There is a nationally observed event called "EWeek" which happens in
Feb (dates were unclear). All professional engineering groups are encouraged to
schedule events during that week promoting the profession of engineering
Last month's Action Items:
- Leslie will check our bylaws to verify that we have covered the correct
positions to maintain our charter. Once these are verified, Nadine will post
this ballot on surveymonkey.com and send a link to listserv members --- this was
completed in Aug 2009
- Nadine will complete an expense report to turn in to the treasurer for the ABJ
Conference ---completed. Check was disbursed in Sep 2009
- Add website review to next agenda --- completed today
- Leslie is in process of compiling the summary report and will check with
Chiao-ih for status of the treasurer's report - - Leslie completed Section
summary report. Status of Treasurer's report is unknown at this time.
- Nadine will investigate the listserv issues and draft preliminary
questions for the activity survey -- Not done
- Leslie and Marilyn will verify that the date and time is clear with their
schedules and confirm the date with Chaio-ih --- completed, but Chiao-ih was
unable to attend this meeting
Next Meeting:
- Proposed activity is to meet at a coffee house or cafe. Date - Oct 20 (Tue) at
18:45
- Proposed Agenda: national conference report, followup on action items,
activities for upcoming year, others to be determined
