The Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center is nearing its completion of a $125 million renovation
tore-establish the hotel as the area's premier luxury convention destination.
Renovations will include 1299 refurbished guest rooms including 50 luxurious suites,
renovation of the 100,000 sq ft of meeting space, new all day restaurant overlooking the Detroit River.
In addition, motor and new guest lobbies, an additional 11,500 sq ft ballroom and new 71st floor restaurant
featuring a spectacular 30 mile view of Canada and Detroit. Located in the heart of downtown Detroit overlooking
the Detroit River. Currently, the hotel features 24 hour room service and Leonardo's Gourmet Bean Coffee
Cart featuring light food and beverage offerings for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. The hotel is connected to
Renaissance Center, the Global Headquarters for General Motors.
Conference Rates: Single $149.00, Double $149.00, Triple/Quad $169 plus $20 per each additional person.
Hotel room rates are subject to applicable state and local taxes (currently 15%) in effect at the time of check-in.

TRANSPORTATION OVERVIEW
Complementary transportation will be provided to all off-site events and tours.
A shuttle will take conference attendees from the Marriott Hotel to the Cobo Convention
Center during the conference, beginning at 7am each day. Pick-up points will be clearly
marked at the hotel front entrance and the Cobo Center. If you also choose to walk, the
distance is approximately 4 blocks from the hotel directly along Jefferson Avenue.
SAFETY AND SECURITY
The City of Detroit is pleased to announce that the incidence of violent crime is the
lowest it's been in 30 years, especially in the Downtown area. As always, please
follow the safety rules of the hotel and convention center and all other personal
safety measures when traveling, i.e., traveling with a group when possible, locking doors, etc.

an upbeat, enjoyable experience. The people mover stops at COBO and can be accessed from the 2nd Floor

from the 3rd floor of the building.

GUEST AND CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS
Children 12 and over may register to attend non-ticketed events or may purchase student tickets to attend
most ticketed events. There may be some tour restrictions. Note: No one under the age of 18 will not be
allowed in the Exhibit Hall (other than the registration area) during ANY period of Exhibitor Setup.
Children under 12 do not need to pay a registration fee, but must purchase tickets to any ticketed event.
Some exceptions may apply for children under 5; please call (800) 892-2858 if you have any specific
questions or concerns on children's fees.
CHILDCARE
"BREAKING NEWS.....HP TO SPONSOR SWE CHILDCARE"
Hewlett Packard has agreed to sponsor the Child Care during our upcoming SWE
2002 Conference. Childcare will now be free of charge on a first come,
first serve basis. It will be provided during the conference beginning
Wed., Oct. 9 - Sat., Oct. 12 from 8am to 5pm at Cobo Hall and on Friday
evening from 6 - 10pm at the Marriott Hotel during the Achievement Awards
Banquet.
In addition, the Childcare Room at Cobo will be set up as a "resting place"
for moms to take a break during the activities of the conference. We will
be located on the Congress lower level in Room DO-02A.
Childcare is being provided by Traveler's Childcare Services a local company
that provides safe, quality childcare for infants to age 12.
