The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Phoenix and Tucson Area Sections would like to invite any 6th to 12th grade students, who are interested in science and math, to participate in the Explorathon event, sponsored by Raytheon Engineers and Constructors, Inc. Parents and teachers are also encouraged to attend. Click here for application.

The Explorathon will be held in conjunction with the SWE National Convention and Student Conference (NCSC), June 22 - 26, 1999. Approximately 2000 women engineers and students from all over the country, along with over 200 business representatives from industry leaders in energy, construction, manufacturing, computers and other engineering disciplines will be present at the SWE '99 NCSC. Students will interact with these representatives and will have an excellent opportunity to learn and practice networking skills and obtain information on real life applications of engineering, as well as the courses required to pursue an engineering career.
Objectives:

To excite 6th to 12th grade students about career options in science and math and to demonstrate that engineering is fun.

To demonstrate to the students, their parents, teachers and counselors the fact that women engineers are successful in their field. The students, along with their parents and teachers/counselors, will get the opportunity to mingle with engineering students and professionals.

To introduce the students to the industry representatives at the SWE '99 NCSC Career Fair and to give them an opportunity to explore the options in engineering careers.
