What to Bring to Houston

Have you never been to a SWE National Convention? Wondering what to bring?

Here's a list of a few essentials for the 1998 National Convention and Student Conference in Houston.

  • Resumes - Bring lots of copies for the over 200 companies at the Exhibits & Career Fair.
  • School logo t-shirt - Tuesday's events are casual and the t-shirt will help with the ice breakers.
  • Appropriate clothes - All events except the Tuesday student conference activities (t-shirt), (The Event Formerly Known as The Student Awards Ceremony) (semi-formal or business, suit or dress), and the Awards Banquet (semi-formal or business, suit or dress) call for business casual (slacks and blouse). Remember: it's hot and humid outside in Houston during June!
  • Jacket or sweater - Houston air-conditioning can get really cold!
  • Umbrella - "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute." Rain can come at any time - even when it is sunny outside!.
  • Bathing suit and/or workout clothes - The Hyatt Regency Houston has great facilities for those interested.
  • Student Section SWE sales items - Tables are available in the SWE Boutique area for chapters to sell their goods. Student Sections have sold t-shirts, hats, ornaments, and other items in the past.
