Car Rentals
SWE is a member of the Alamo Rent-A-Car Program. Please mention the SWE membership number #240192 and Rate Code "BY" when calling Alamo for reservations.

Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, General, Hertz and National rental cars are available at Bush Intercontinental and Hobby Airports.

Transportation & Getting Around
Airport Shuttles - For economical local transportation between the airports and the Hyatt Regency Houston, use Airport Express shuttle service. Airport Express operates between 7:30am and 11:00pm with a pick-up every 30 minutes at both Houston Hobby and Bush Intercontinental Airports. Tickets can be purchased at each airport on the terminal lower level just outside baggage claim. Cost at time of publication: $16 Intercontinental and $11 Hobby, $5 for children under age 12. Drivers may or may not provide baggage handling. For specific schedules, call Airport Express at 713-523-8888.

Taxis - are readily available at both major airports. Fares can vary from $20 to $40 for a trip from either airport to downtown.

Rental Cars - Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, General, Hertz and National rental cars are available at Bush Intercontinental and Hobby Airports.

Buses - local Metro buses cost $1 each way for adults, $0.25 for children ages 5 to 11 and children under age 5 are free with an adult. Exact change is required; transfers are free. Metro schedules and tokens are available at these sites downtown: 405 Main and 813 Dallas. For further information call Metro transit, 713-635-4000.

Parking - There are fees for parking at the George R. Brown Convention Center and the Hyatt Regency Houston. Cost varies (from $0.50 to $15) by location. Please note, if you remove your car from its parking space and return later the same day, you may have to pay an additional parking fee.

Convention Shuttle Buses - Complimentary shuttle bus transportation is provided for SWE Convention attendees between the George R. Brown Convention Center and the Hyatt Regency Houston. The shuttles will run continuously during Convention hours Tuesday through Friday.

Miscellaneous
Area Codes - The area codes for the greater Houston area are 713 and 281. The area code for the Hyatt Regency Houston and the George R. Brown Convention Center is 713.

Time Zone - Houston is in the Central time zone, one hour behind Eastern time. Houston observes daylight-saving time April through October.

Food - Consider the food court in the Park Shops Mall, a quick and fairly close option for lunch just across the gardens from the George R. Brown Convention Center. Be forewarned, locals crowd the Park Shops food court at lunch time.

Aerobics
A certified instructor will lead aerobics classes Wednesday through Saturday, 6:00-7:00am.
