Dr. E. Wendy Trachte-Huber is the Director of the A.A. White Dispute
Resolution Institute, a non-profit organization engaged in teaching
and research in the dispute resolution field. She has extensive experience
in the dispute resolution field serving as an ombudsperson, mediator,
negotiator, attorney and dispute resolution system consultant. She is
an Executive Professor at the University of Houston College of Business
Administration where she teaches "Environmental Laws and Regulations"
and "Negotiations in a Diverse Environment." Georgette Michko is an
active SWE member who recently earned a graduate certificate in
Dispute Resolution.

Learn to protect your intellectual property through copyrights, trademarks, patents and trade secrets. Learn to prepare applications by yourself for each form of protection in the U.S. Copyright Office and Patent and Trademark Office. How and when, or why not, to apply for foreign rights will also be discussed. Participants will actually complete a sample copyright registration form, trademark application and patent application. Particular emphasis will be on handling basic matters yourself, including drafting patent, trademark and copyright applications to dramatically reduce attorney expenses. To illustrate do-it-yourself patent applications, participants will be using PatentPro™ software to prepare utility patent applications.
Bob Mason and Jim Petruzzi, partners in an intellectual property law
firm, have over 12 years experience representing clients in the
acquisition of intellectual property rights and the enforcement of
those rights before federal and state courts. They developed PatentPro™, an
innovative patent application software, designed to interact with
inventors as a patent attorney would.
