Location
Seattle, nicknamed the “Emerald City”
for its evergreen trees, is the largest
city in the Pacific Northwest. The
birthplace of Starbucks and Tully’s,
Seattle is famous for coffee – something
we’re sure you will need plenty of
during the exciting conference program
we have planned.
Seattle is the
ideal city to host a conference on
entrepreneurship because of its
entrepreneurial history, especially in
the high-tech and biotechnology
industries. Many technology companies,
such as Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, and
Zymogenetics were founded here; in
addition, consumer companies such as
Nordstrom and Starbucks call Seattle
home. Other entrepreneurial companies
were born here and were later bought
out; for example, Immunex was purchased
by Amgen, McCaw Cellular was bought by
AT&T, and HeartStream was sold to
Philips. While you are here, check out
the company tours and learn more about
how your engineering skills can
contribute to their success.
