Akron/Canton Monthly Dinners

Due to the large geographical area of the Northeast Ohio Society of Women Engineers (SWE) professional section, small group meetings have been initiated to increase member interaction and involvement. Since August 2007, professionals from the Akron/Canton area have been gathering for dinner once a month at various local restaurants. This is an excellent atmosphere for small group networking and allows for open discussions…it is also a great time and a nice break after work just to hang out! Corporate Sponsorship

Are you a licensed engineer and/or surveyor?

Your SWE chapter is looking at presenting short workshops that can be used to fulfill professional development hours (PDHs) that are now required by the state of Ohio. We are tentatively planning a one-evening event in mid-April (2008). The topic will be Workplace Ethics. The number of PDHs is scheduled to be between 2 and 3 hours. The cost and exact time are still to be determined – we wish to make this event fairly inexpensive as well as at a time you can still get home at a reasonable hour.

It’s your turn to help with some information. Please email us at NEOHIO_SWE_WEB@hotmail.com with answers to the following:

• Is this something you would be interested in and would attend?
• Workplace Ethics is a huge topic. Is there some part of the topic or ethics-related issue you are interested in learning more about?
• We are considering two locations for this event: one in the southern part or our region (Akron/Canton) and one in the northern part (perhaps downtown Cleveland). Which is better for you? How far would you travel to attend this event?
• What other topics would you like to see addressed?
• What type of forums would you prefer (discussion, more like a classroom, role-playing, other)?
• What speakers can you suggest for your topic(s)? Keep in mind that national speakers tend to charge for their time – that will affect what you pay for the seminar.
• What times are good for you (breakfast meetings, all day on a week day, all day on a weekend, evenings (6-8, 6-9, 7-10, ?), other)?

2009 Regional Conference

The 2009 Ohio Valley Region G Conference has been awarded to THE UNIVERSITY OF AKRON collegiate section in cooperative partnership with the Northeast Ohio Professional Section.
