Benefits of SWE Membership:

  • Networking

Networking isn't just good for finding a job, but for making friends within the engineering community. We have a diverse group of women in engineering to network with, from new grads to working moms to retirees. We also serve a diverse ethnic group. We join SWE not to just find a job, but to find a connection with other women who face the same challenges we do.

  • Knowledge Base

Throughout the year SWE offers seminars, conferences, and other programs that allow you to expand your knowledge, from starting your own company, to the newest trends and discoveries in the many fields of engineering. Also, through networking, as mentioned above, you also learn the inside news on what is going on with companies both locally and nationally.

  • Leadership Opportunities

Within SWE there are many leadership opportunities. Whether you're comfortable leading a large group, or would rather manage just a couple of people, there are a diverse number of ways to become involved as a leader in SWE. If you have a lot of leadership experience, here is an excellent opportunity for you to use your skills. If you've never led a group or think you have weak leadership skills, this is an excellent opportunity to gain more leadership experience.

  • Personal and Professional Growth

Personally, the Central Ohio Section is involved within the community. Not only reaching out to groups in need, but also to the children of the community. We serve as mentors and leaders within the community. Professionally, the Central Ohio Section brings in many speakers throughout the year to discuss topics of significant engineering interest. Also, SWE as a whole offers many conferences and workshops, both locally and through the internet, that address both topics of professional and personal interest.

  • P.E. Credits

Ohio, along with many other States, have laws regarding rules and regulations on maintaining a Professional Engineers license. SWE offers many workshops and lectures that allow you to meet the requirements of maintaining your PE. Central Ohio SWE, in particular, has been working to ensure that speakers, workshops, etc. are offered that will allow our local P.E.s the opportunity to fulfill some of their requirements by attending our events.

How can you become involved?

If you are already a SWE member contact our Section President to find out what opportunities we have for involvement.
