23^rd Annual Certificate of Merit

The 23^rd Annual SWE Hartford Certificate of Merit Awards Ceremony was held at the University of Hartford on Thursday, April 26^th. Fifty-one high school juniors representing 32 high schools from the greater Hartford and Springfield areas were honored this year. The students were nominated by their teachers and guidance counselors as having completed three years of mathematics and sciences classes with excellence, and being active in their school and/or community. The students and parents who were able to attend the ceremony this year were treated to three wonderful speakers who talked about the rewards of careers in engineering. The speakers reflected on how they got into engineering, what a typical day is like, and what they enjoy about their jobs. Many of the students expressed great interest in pursuing an engineering or technical career and had lots of great questions! Special thanks to our speakers this year, Jake Mendelssohn, Peter Bouchard, and Liz Garypie, as well as to all the SWE Hartford and University of Hartford SWE members who helped to make this year’s event a great success.
