Inexpensive Web Design – Anyone Can Do It Web design doesn’t have to
require expensive or fancy software or mean that you must be a computer
programmer who knows html. If you are
familiar with Microsoft Word and know how to embed photos or graphics into a
document, you have the basic skills for web design. The commands to link a
document and save it in html format are part of Microsoft Word. There are
several free software programs which will quickly and efficiently upload
multiple files and webpage graphics content to a hosting web server. When you leave this session, you’ll know
how to create, edit, link and edit webpages with commonly available or free
software. It’s a valuable skill and
one that is becoming increasingly important in today’s tech-savy workplace.
About the Speaker Jeanne Trinko
Mechler, has designed the websites for SWE Region F conference for the past three
years, as well as the website for IEEE Custom Integrated Circuits Conference.
She is a senior technical staff electrical engineer with 24 years of
experience in ASIC (application specific integrated circuit) chip design with
the IBM Systems & Technology Group in Essex Junction, VT. She works on a
daily basis with design teams and customers from India, China, Japan,
Germany, and all over the United States and has traveled frequently to teach
classes in those locations. She
received the M.S. and B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of
Vermont in 1989 and 1985 respectively, and the M.S. in engineering management
from the National Technological University in 1992. She holds patents and has published papers
in the areas of design for test, reliability, failure analysis, and ASIC
design. She has completed more than a
two dozen ASIC chip designs, specializing in those containing High Speed
SerDes and is the author of the engineering textbook High Speed SerDes
Devices and Applications. She is a
senior life member of the Society of Women Engineers and is currently serving
as the Region F Governor. She is a
member of the Technical Program committee for the IEEE Custom Integrated
Circuits Conference 2004-present, a member of the Sigma Xi Scientific
Research Society, the National Engineers Week, EX.I.T.E., and technical
education outreach committees for IBM, and a Girl Scout Leader. She resides in Essex Junction, VT with her
husband and three children, ages 12, 13, and 17. She also enjoys singing, sewing,
