Patents and Intellectual Property Description Intellectual property is an
intangible creation of the mind and includes inventions, literary and
artistic works, symbols, names, images, logos and images used in
commerce. We will provide an overview
of various types of intellectual property and their protection with an
emphasis on inventions, patents and the patenting process. We will then explore what a patent is (and
what it is not), discuss what is needed to get a patent, conditions for
patentability, protection of confidential information and why it is
important, and answer some frequently asked questions on the patenting
process. About the Speaker Jennifer Calcagni is an attorney in Connecticut with the law firm of
Carmody & Torrance. She focuses on IP law, including patents,
trademarks and copyrights. |
