How to Work a Career Fair Description Career Fairs are exciting
opportunities to network and present yourself to a company; however, many people
approach them without much preparation.
Find out how to get the most out of these events and practice
presenting yourself. About the Speaker Rachelle
Reisberg is the Director of Women in Engineering at Northeastern University. She
is responsible for developing a wide range of programs to recruit and retain
women in the College of Engineering.
She teaches freshmen engineering courses as well as a Career
Management Course. Rachelle is the
Associate Director of Connections, a program originally funded by the
National Science Foundation (NSF) for women studying science, math,
engineering, and technology. Its goal
is to reinforce the transition points between middle school, high school,
college, and career. Connections was
the recipient of the 2004 AAUW Massachusetts Progress in Equity Award and the
2005 National AAUW award. Now in its
10th year, Connections continues to provide programs for college, high
school, and middle school students including: academic and social support programs,
scholarships, a freshman year residence hall (learning living community),
outreach programs, career preparation and advising. Rachelle is currently the Principal
Investigator for a NSF - GSE (Gender Science Engineering) grant titled:
Pathways to Self-Efficacy and Retention of Women in Undergraduate Engineering
which is a collaboration with RIT, Virginia Tech, and University of Wyoming.
Rachelle was a co-recipient in 2005 of Northeastern's President's Diversity
Award for outreach activities. She is
also the advisor to the Northeastern SWE student chapter and an active member
of WEPAN and ASEE. Prior to joining
Northeastern in 2001, Rachelle held a wide range of management positions in
IBM, Hanover Insurance, and Allmerica Financial and was the President of a
high tech start-up company. She earned
her Bachelor's and Master's in Electrical Engineering at Rice
University. |
