I was the Girl Scout Day Chair for my section. I coordinated with AIChE and the Girl Scout office to find to plan activities. I gathered materials, handled registration and was in charge the day of the event. I am also serving as my section's treasurer. I am in charge of the finances and fund raisers. I have also stepped in when the President and Vice Presidents were unable to meet with the faculty adviser.
List other leadership positions you have held and describe your contributions:
I was in Girl Scouts for 13 years and planned and carried out many badge workshops for younger scouts, as well as becoming a Girl Scout Camp counselor. I also served as one of two girl members on the Board of Directors for Girl Scouts for 3 years. Currently, I am on the Engineering Student Council where I am in charge of one of the activities for E-Week.
What would you bring to the position of RCR, RCNE or RCS?
As an RCR, I will listen to the needs of the collegiate members and voice their concerns. My experience on the Girl Scout Board of Directors will be an asset in this position. I am very organized and dedicated. I enjoy participating in SWE and encourage others to participate, promoting the organization as much as possible. Our section has more members and has been more active than last year.
Why do you want to be an RCR/RCCE/RCS?
I believe in the phrase "you get out of SWE what you put into it," and becoming an RCR would allow me to become active on a regional level. I enjoy promoting SWE wherever I go, and as an RCR I would have more opportunities. Also, becoming an RCR would allow for more networking opportunities.
What does SWE mean to you?
SWE gives women in engineering the opportunity to come together to share experiences and offer encouragement. SWE also offers collegiate members an opportunity to get leadership experience and network for future careers. My collegiate SWE section has allowed me to be active at my university, and connect with other female engineers while developing lifelong friendships.
How many SWE conferences have you attended?
Annual - I have attended two national conferences.
What are your interests outside of SWE?
I am active in MSU's Engineering Student Council and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. I also enjoy geocaching and attending MSU sporting events.
