Membership Officer (May 2009 - December 2009)- Texas A&M Chapter As membership officer I encouraged more students to come to the meetings and aided them in joining SWE. Then, once more people joined, I submitted the names of the new members to the national headquarters. I attended all officer meetings to work with the other officers and discuss ideas for upcoming meetings or socials. Also, I organized and sent out weekly email announcements to all of the members to keep them informed of events coming up. Last, I organized the points for each member and took attendance at all of the meetings and socials. Internal Vice President (November 2009-Present)- Texas A&M Chapter As internal vice president, I communicate with the officers their role in SWE and help them with any questions they have about their position. Also, I converse with the University and reserve the rooms and media needed for our officer and general meetings. I take attendance for the officers at all of the general meetings and ensure that they attend the number of meetings and socials required. Last, I meet with the other executive officers twice a month to discuss how everything is running throughout the organization.

Impact Counselor (January 2009- December 2009) - Impact is a Christ-centered retreat for incoming freshmen at Texas A&M. As a counselor, during the school semester before the retreat, I attended 4 meetings a week to prepare and organize activities for the freshmen. At the retreat, I mentored 60 freshmen and prepared them for their first year of college. After the retreat, I continued to encourage the freshmen and helped them in any way that I could as they moved in and attended their first classes. Impact Prayer Teamer (December 2009- Present) - As a prayer teamer, during the semester leading up to the retreat I encourage the counselors and co-chairs through prayer. I also meet with the rest of the Impact staff 4 times a week to pray for the freshmen and help organize the retreat. During the retreat, I continue to pray for the freshman and encourage them before their first day of classes. After the retreat, I meet up with them and help them in any way that I can when they step onto the Texas A&M campus. Section Leader of Texas A&M Symphonic Winds Band (August 2008- Present) - As section leader, I aid the band director in preparing for 4 concerts throughout the school year. I also encourage the other members of my section to practice and answer any questions they have about the music.
What would you bring to the position of RCR, RCNE or RCS?
First of all, I am very dependable. When I am given a task it will be completed and on-time. I know that if someone trusted me enough to ask me to do something, I should not betray that trust and make sure that the job is finished correctly. I feel that this characteristic would aid me in the Regional Chair position. Also, I get along with people very well which would encourage more officers to communicate with me their concerns or questions. This, in turn, will strengthen and unify SWE which will create more honesty and openness throughout the region. I also will bring my knowledge of the Texas A&M SWE chapter to the RCR position. Since I currently am an executive officer of SWE at Texas A&M, I understand how to successfully run an organization with hundreds of members and how to make sure everyone feels included. This knowledge will aid me as an RCR because I will be representing many people all over Texas but I still will strive to keep a sense of unity and closeness.
Why do you want to be an RCR/RCCE/RCS?
I want to be an RCR because I am ready to experience SWE more at a regional and National level. I want to be able to network with other SWE members outside of the Texas A&M Chapter and discover another side of SWE that I have never seen before. SWE is a nationally recognized organization that I want to be able to discover at a national level and I know that this position would provide me with that opportunity. Also, as RCR I know that I would be able to meet other women that have been in the workforce and have knowledge about the opportunities available to women engineers. I want to learn from them and gain some insight as to what being a women engineer in the real world really looks like. I know that the information and knowledge that I would gain from those conversations would be very valuable the rest of my college career and beyond. Last, as a new face to the regional level of SWE, I have new ideas that I want to voice and begin to implement that will make SWE an even more incredible organization.
What does SWE mean to you?
When I joined SWE last year as a freshman, right away I already felt empowered and gained a lot of energy from the other women in the organization. At every SWE gathering, whether it is a social or a meeting, I always feel a part of an organization that truly cares for each and every member. I am blessed to have encountered such an organization that holds themselves to such high standards and that achieves such wonderful fellowship and unity. SWE is an organization that I hold in very high regards and I am so excited and honored to be a part of it.
How many SWE conferences have you attended?
Region 1 / Annual 0
What are your interests outside of SWE?
I love music. I play the trumpet in a concert band here at Texas A&M. I also am in the Hullabaloo Band that plays at all of the Aggie volleyball and basketball games. I am also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in which I attend some of the meetings. Also, I love to exercise because it is a great stress relief from all of the engineering classes. Last, I love attending my church and bible study on Sundays.
