Presentation Competition

Practice: Thursday, 10/14, 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Competition: Friday, 10/15, 1:00-5:00 p.m.
After winning the Technical Paper Regional Competition for
the best written technical paper (and receiving a travel stipend to the
conference), the regional finalists will compete in the Technical Presentation
Competition. Cheer on your region’s representative as she presents her original
research or work with an application in engineering. First, second and third
place national winners will receive $1500, $1000, and $750 prizes. All regional
winners will receive a ticket to the Awards Banquet courtesy of IBM.

Tech Competition

Competition: Friday, 10/15, 8:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.
The Team Tech Competition was introduced in 1992 by The
Boeing Company to emphasize the key role of teamwork and interface with
industry. Join the cheering and fun as teams ranging from four to 12 students,
and representing at least three engineering disciplines, compete for prizes of
$5000, $2500, and $1250 for first, second, and third place.

Competition: Saturday, 10/16, 1:15-5:15 p.m.
To claim the title of Subject Matter Expert and win cash
prizes, student teams representing the 10 SWE regions answer engineering and
SWE-related questions. Team sign up will occur during the Student Region
Meetings. Test your knowledge or just cheer on your region’s team. Individuals
on winning teams receive $100, $75, $50 for first, second and third place as
well as prizes of $2,000, $1,500 and $1,000 for their respective regions.
